The V S D 30 - a real allround talent for construction sites and sheet pile pulling

The V S D 30 – the popular all-rounder among vibration and oscillation dampers. Available for every application up to 16 t pull force.

One of our 250kN dampers was successfully used in a sheet pile wall removal operation in an inner-city area with a 250-ton mobile crane – in a very confined space, with a significant reduction in the crane load.

Proven effectiveness: Vibration dampers reduce crane vibrations by up to 93%

In an independent performance study conducted by acoustics, noise and vibration experts VMS Australia, the VSD 70 and VSD 130 vibration dampers were tested under real-world construction site conditions – specifically during operations involving vibratory hammers and cranes.

Objective of the Study:
To measure the reduction in vibration transmission from the vibro hammer to the crane structure, with a focus on critical load scenarios such as sheet pile extraction.

Test Setup:

  • Use of an 80-tonne crawler crane
  • Two types of vibro hammers were tested:
    • ICE 32NF (static moment)
    • PVE 28VM (variable moment)
  • Vibration measurements were taken at the hook, boom, mid-boom, and inside the operator cabin

Key Findings:

  • Up to 93% reduction in structural vibration levels with the SD130
  • Up to 91% reduction with the SD70
  • Particularly high dampening performance during pile extraction – the most critical load case
  • Limited effect when the hammer is "sitting on the pile" (due to lack of active rope tension)

Conclusion:
The study confirms: Our vibration dampers significantly reduce harmful vibrations, protect crane structures, and improve on-site safety – especially when
extracting sheet piles using vibro hammers. In special foundation engineering, dampeners help protect equipment and workers – for safer, smoother operations.
